Reviews
I visited while the Chris Ware exhibit was up and really enjoyed it! 12 CHF for an adult ticket and it was worth the money. It was great to see how many different topics of life and events are covered through Chris Ware’s work.
Comics museum with great exhibitions. Seeing original comics artworks is always important to understand an artist’s process.
Went for the current exhibit of Chris Ware. The museum galleries were thoughtfully organized, the pieces were thought provoking, and leaving I felt inspired and newly aware of the levels and details cartoon art.
Really not that nice, everything is written in German, there is a small pamphlet in English but the staff did not tell us about it and we saw it on our way out. There are some tablets that can give information, but really not that helpful.
The building is nice, but it was unbearably warm and hard to breathe inside.
Bad. This is not a CARTOON MUSEUM this is a Cosey museum. Not worth the 7chf pretty person. It lure people to get in thinking that it's a museum about a variety of cartoons but it's just about this man
It's not a cartoon museum but just the works of one artist. All the comics are in French since that is the native language of the artist. The descriptions on the wall are in German but the receptionist gives a leaflet with descriptions in many languages. We spent an hour or so there. Was quite entertaining. Not sure if it is accessible to people in a wheelchair as I didn't see any lifts.
I spent 2-3 hours here. I learned a bit about the artist and enjoyed the library at the end, but this is mostly an art gallery.
We went to this museum on Basel Museum Night. So, there were tons of people out and this museum, in particular, was crowded. I'm not sure how it normally is. The exhibits were amazing, though, I'd highly recommend going!
